Continuing its focus on corporate travel, TripIt created more than a 1,000 company groups and gave TripIt users the option to join them so they can see their cubemates' travel plans.
With TripIt Groups, a free service, company employees can see the travel dates and locations of their colleagues on a map, and have the option to keep their wanderings private.
If TripIt hasn't already created a group for your company, you can request here that TripIt create one.
Some TripIt users access TripIt through their companies' e-mail systems, and groups for these companies already have been established, TripIt says.
Lacking more sophisticated tools that some corporations and travel management companies use, TripIt Groups would be useful for companies trying to track the whereabouts of their employee travelers during a crisis.
And, TripIt argues that TripIt Groups could create efficiencies for companies because it "helps business travelers get more out of their trips and companies get more out of their travel programs."
