Arbor Ventures has led a $10 million Series A backing into TravelersBox, an offline-to-online service that takes a traveller's used money and changes to a digital currency.
Existing investors Pitango Venture Capital, IPE Ventures, Pereg Ventures, iAngels, Global Blue, as well as angels including Yuval Tal, Zohar Gilon, Yanai Oron, Roy Gabriel, Moti Rivlin and Harel Kodesh, have all participated in the round.
The total raised by the Israel-based company so far has reached $15.5 million.
The service works by collecting money from travellers at kiosks in airports, which then deposits funds into a PayPal account or gift cars for iTunes, Starbucks, Skype and other retailers.
TravelersBox currently has 75 kiosks in locations in Canada, Italy, Israel and the Philippines.
It claims to handled "several million transactions" to date.
The investment will be used to expand its kiosk hardware programme to airports in New Zealand, Japan and India, with a target for an extra 300 by the end of 2016.
