We were asked recently to help out with a BBC FastTrack show which was looking at attitudes in the industry and with travellers to providing free wifi for guests in hotels.
The programme (aired globally on BBC World and BBC News in the UK last weekend) followed a recent report from HRS which discovered around two-thirds of properties out of its 125,000 portfolio in Europe are now offering free connections to customers.
The issue has evolved in the last year or so on from the previous black and white arguments (yes or no) to one based on the quality of the wifi. There is, after all, no point in offering free wifi if it takes an age to do anything with it once a traveller is connected.
