Hardly a week goes by without a group of former-Expedia/Microsoft folk coming together to launch a new travel startup - this time it's the turn of Stash Hotel Rewards.
Stash is an online hotel loyalty reward scheme for guests that use independent hotels, rather than chains.
The company says it has contracted 65 hotels in 50 cities around the US to participate in the scheme and has a target of 200 properties by the end of 2010.
The scheme is similar to countless other chain-based programmes, allowing members to accrue loyalty points and redeem them against certain properties or facilities.
The entire process is managed via the Stash website.
The launch of Stash comes within a week of Room 77 coming out of hiding (backed by Rich Barton) and against the backdrop of the intriguing Travelpost project by Barton, Simon Breakwell and Greg Slyngstad, all former-Expedia execs.
The Expedia-Microsoft graduate list for Stash Hotels includes Jeff Low (creator of Expedia's Thank You programme, now CEO of Stash),Mathew Bockus, Andy Wand, David Dawson, John Griffin, Andie Reed, Theresa Morrow, Raul Vega, and Audrey Lincoff [full biogs here].
