Sabre wants travel agents in Germany to get a bit more social as it launched its travel agent social networking platform, AgentStream, in that country.
AgentStream now counts more than 4,100 travel agents globally as participants, and enables them to weigh in with advice, collaborate with other agents, and ask and answer industry-related questions.
Along the way, travel agents can create and take part in public and private groups, and read and comment on community blogs.
In Europe, the platform is also available in the UK, but expansion is on tap across the continent in 2011, Sabre says.
AgentStream, which has a presence throughout the Middle East, North America and Latin America, is open to travel professionals with and without Sabre affiliations, but most participants are Sabre-connected. Sabre says AgentStream has a presence in more than 100 countries.
In addition to German, AgentStream is available in English, French, Italian, Spanish, Portuguese and Arabic.
Sabre timed its Germany launch for AgentStream with ITB Berlin.
In other AgentStream news, on March 15, Sabre will be rolling out Live Chat Event, a new global AgentStream feature.
Live Chat Event will facilitate agent chat sessions hosted by industry and Sabre experts, as well as suppliers.
As social networking has taken off for the general public, solutions such as AgentStream are tapping into the community impulse for travel agents.
AgentStream competes with Travelport Opinions, a community site for travel agents claiming more than 7,600 travel professionals from 126 countries.
Full disclosure: Tnooz has a content partnership with Sabre Travel Network in which some Tnooz articles appear in AgentStream.
