SITA has partnered with Datalex to unveil an update to the Horizon E-Commerce platform currently used by more than 30 airlines
The development aims to meet changing passenger behaviour and help users search, book and manage their journey via the sales and service portal.
Horizon E-Commerce is already used by more than 30 airlines and the upgrade, which works in real-time, enables users to search by origin and destination as well as calendar, experience, budget or map.
Last year SITA was given the all clear by the US Department of Transport and its equivalent in Canada to distribute data for airlines alongside ATPCO. The decision meant SITA would be able to offer airlines an end-to-end system with enhanced search and shopping capabilities.
The updated Horizon E-Commerce platform provides all elements of the trip including hotels and car-hire and suggests relevant offers by monitoring search behaviour.
SITA says that until now the Horizon E-Commerce was developed in house.
According to the recent Airline IT Trends Survey, almost all airlines sell tickets via their websites with more than 70% (90% by 2015) also offering ancillary services.
