In what might be considered a meeting of the minds, meetings- and events-app provider QuickMobile attracted nearly $1.3 million in funding from Vancity, a major Canadian credit union.
QuickMobile, which has developed apps in the past few weeks for an Association of Corporate Travel Executives event in Paris and Google Zeitgeist 2011, for example, intends to use the new funding, along with a $2.3 million round closed in August, to enhance its products and expand its customer base, the company says.
Founded in 2006, Vancouver, Canada-based QuickMobile began developing event apps in 2008.
Vancity, which is likewise based in Vancouver, said "QuickMobile is a great example of a company executing on a compelling commercial opportunity as well as delivering positive environmental and social benefits."
QuickMobile's total funding to date is about $5.2 million (or about $5.3 million in Canadian dollars).
