Emerging amongst the tech world's predictable excitement over the Apple iPhone software upgrade are various rumours of problems for travel users.
In particular the new system, known as iOS 4, is understood to be causing problems for apps with mapping functionality.
Apple has not officially acknowledged the problem but a number of message boards have highlighted issues with the new OS in recent weeks [one here] and some developers are trying to find workarounds ahead of a wider bug fix from Apple.
The problem for travel app providers is that the iOS 4 went live as an upgrade to existing iPhone users this week and many are now discovering a number of travel apps are not working.
A number of app providers have privately to having problems this week and are keen to a resolution quickly.
One particular problem is with apps that use mapping systems outside of the usual Google Maps portfolio, known as "packed maps" from a number of library providers.
Any app providers out there with experiences to share?
