Maybe this is one of the novel ideas to emerge in the mix of hotels and technology: an application that gives property owners a view of what hi-tech entertainment-focused rooms will look like.
The application for Android and Apple devices was created by Philips manufacturer and re-seller in the hospitality sector, TP Vision, in a move designed showcase to property owners how its products will look in their hotel rooms.
Using the augmented reality-driven app, hoteliers can virtually display a 3D picture overlay of TVs in their hotel rooms.
The picture overlay is displayed on the smartphone’s or tablet’s screen showing how a new the TV fits in their rooms, including information about the TV's technical details and other background material.
The idea is that during renovation of rooms, hoteliers can get a better idea of some of the brand's products will fit within the confines of guest rooms, potentially a useful feature (albeit used perhaps just the once by each property) given the size of many hotel TVs these days.
TV Vision acts as a licensee for Philips in Europe, Russia, Middle East, Brazil, Argentina, Uruguay, Paraguay and selected countries in Asia-Pacific.
