Cheapflights Media has rebranded to Momondo Group as it prepares to extend its presence to non-English speaking destinations.
Cheapflights acquired the Denmark-based Momondo about 18 months ago as a means to establish a presence in previously untargeted markets including Scandinavia and Russia.
Since the acquisition, Russia has grown to be Momondo's third largest market while the company has also established its Twendetwende service in East and Central Africa via a partnership with Nation Media Group.
Cheapflights has just unveiled a new service in South Africa while Momondo has launched a site in Romania.
The rebranded entity is also strengthening its board with the appointment of Thorvald Stigsen, founder of Momondo, who brings travel industry, technology and entrepreneurial skills to the table.
Momondo Group boss Hugo Burge says that while the Cheapflights name has traction in English-speaking markets it is the Momondo name that is better placed to help it expand in non-English speaking destinations as well develop additional services for travellers.
