Augmented reality, trip planning, sharing, GPS and content seem to be the items most of the high-end travel mobile apps are including, with MTrip the latest to join the fray.
But as Montreal-based MTrip throws its new travel iPhone app into an increasingly crowded marketplace, will other app services find themselves left behind?
MTrip has taken the fee route, charging $6 (£3.49) for each of its destination-based apps and covering London, Paris, Amsterdam, Berlin, Rome, Barcelona, New York, San Francisco and Chicago.

Central to MTrip system is the availability of all the functionality in aeroplane mode on the handset, eliminating the need to connect via wireless or phone networks to browse content and use other services.
