In an airport, check-ins go into Facebook and Foursquare, pictures invariably also go to Facebook and now Instagram, but what about the tweets? Indeed, what do travellers tweet about?
88% of tweets from travellers in airports are customer service related, says an infographic by CheapFlights.
Below are few of the interesting data points:
- Airports in North America and Europe tops the list of popular Twitter users.
- Atlanta's Hartsfield-Jackson international airport has the highest passenger traffic, but its not even in the top 3 of "Most followed Twitter handles" list. Where as, London's Heathrow airport that handles third highest passenger traffic has the highest Twitter followers (about 156,000).
- In a tweet sentiment vs flight timeliness study, tweets from Beijing airport (with a record of only 25.75% on time departure) almost has the same positive/negative sentiment of tweets from Tokyo airport (with a record of 93.82% on time departure)
- In terms of Klout score among airports, London's Heathrow airport tops the list with 73 points
