HotelTonight, the same-day, mobile hotel-booking service, picked up $9 million in a Series B funding round led by Battery Ventures.
Sam Shank, HotelTonight CEO, says the company has attracted $12.5 million in funding to date and will use the latest round to improve its tech capabilities and to extend its mobile platforms beyond iPhone and Android devices.
In addition, HotelTonight, currently available in 28 cities, intends to get more international and to do a bit more marketing, Shank says.
Battery Ventures (Groupon, Gogobot) lead the latest round, with existing investors Accel Partners and First Round Capital participating, as well.
With the funding infusion, Accel Partners takes a seat on the HotelTonight board and Dave Morin becomes an advisor, HotelTonight says.
HotelTonight launched late last year as a mobile-only booking platform which takes only a handful of taps for bookings.
It has spawned liked-minded offerings, such as Priceline's Tonight-Only Deals.
HotelTonight says its iPhone and Android apps have been downloaded one million times.
