Lastminute.com-owned car hire brand HolidayAutos is rolling out a new website this week ahead of other changes expected to take place in the coming weeks.
New features include improved search and navigation tools as well as throwing a route planning service onto every page.
Other elements include a "double-calendar" function to improve efficiency, the company says, as well as ability to dorp off in different locations and one-way rentals.
The improvements are being driven by changes in the car hire marketplace as a result of massive shortage of vehicle stock.
Holiday Autos are keen to make the booking process as easy as possible in 2010 to encourage customers to book early – this will be particularly important due to a limited supply of hire cars across the industry.
Car hire has been rocked in the past 18 months as a result of the economy. The traditional strategy to use ex-corporate owned cars to the car hire sector was turned on its head when the supply of new cars dried up and corporate buyers decided to utilise their fleets for a longer period of time, creating a knock-on effect to end users in the rental industry.
