Actor Ashton Kutcher hopes he'll be "winning," given his new investment in Berlin-based Gidsy.
Kutcher recently took over Charlie Sheen's role in the TV show, "Two and a Half Men." Sheen, of course, had much to say about "winning" last year.
Gidsy offers tours and activities, often hosted by members of the Gidsy community.
Gidsy announced today it has received $1.2 million in seed funding in a round led by Sunstone Capital. Joining Sunstone are Index Ventures, Werner Vogels, Peter Read and Kutcher.
The startup plans to use the funding infusion "to fuel worldwide expansion," the company says.
Launched in beta a couple of months ago, Gidsy has a presence in Berlin, New York and Amsterdam, and plans to expand to San Francisco and London in about two weeks, the company says.
In the travel industry, Kutcher also has invested in Airbnb and Hipmunk.
There was no word whether Gidsy also sought an investment from Sheen.
