Concur has big plans for TripIt, the itinerary management service that it acquired Jan. 24.
Here are the broad outlines:
- The basic TripIt service will continue to be offered to the traveling public for free.
- TripIt users who are also Concur customers will get a lot of additional expense management and travel functionality -- car, hotel and rail bookings; also "expense entry, submission and approvals; credit card data management; and receipt management," Concur says.
- Concur's existing mobile offering and TripIt's will be combined into a single product.
The integrated mobile solution, which is expected to be available by the end of 2011, would incorporate existing Concur expense-related features, including the ability gather receipts by using the phone's camera.
TripIt features in the combined product would include things like flight-tracking, refund alerts, rewards' points tracking, itinerary management and trip-details sharing, Concur says.
And, Concur is not taking a walled garden approach to TripIt integration.
Concur says "all itinerary data, whether booked within Concur or through another source, will be automatically available for import into the expense report."
Concur detailed its plans in connection with a client conference taking place in Las Vegas Feb. 15-18.
It also announced that it established a new set of Concur Connect Platform open APIs for suppliers, travel management companies and other partners.
