CarTrawler is enabling travel companies to customise its iPhone application by providing them with the source code via its website.
The car rental distribution specialist is allowing companies looking to integrate and earn ancillary revenue from car-hire, via their websites, to re-release the app as their own on the App Store.
The company created an app for Argus Car Hire during the development phase of the app which is available for download from the App Store while a version for Rhino Car Hire will be available soon.
CarTrawler chief technology officer Bobby Healey says the technology is the same as that provided to major airline, hotel and travel partners worldwide but will save companies time and money in developing their own app.

"We have open-sourced our mobile web and iPhone app because we don't believe people will download it and book a car."
The app provides access to 550 major and independent car rental suppliers in 175 countries with features including GPS mapping and call-centre support.
