Dollar Thrifty is rolling out a major programme of improvements across its sites outside of the US following a deal signed with Dublin-based CarTrawler.
The agreement will sees a white label version of the CarTrawler car rental technology integrated into systems running search and booking for Dollar Thrifty sites around the world.
The first country sites - Dollar.co.uk and Prepaid.Thrifty.co.uk - are already using the new platform.
It is hoped Latin American and Canadian versions of the two brands will be up and running by the end of the year, with other country sites added in the future.
Dollar Thrifty Automotive Group is present in around 80 markets globally, giving CarTrawler a lengthy roadmap of improvements to make across the myriad of different sites and brands.
CarTrawler will only be distributing content associated with Dollar-run vehicles rather than its existing model of all car rental suppliers.
The existing technology in the US is difficult to scale around the world as it does not allow for payment collection and cannot be easily switched for different currencies or languages.
