Budget chain Premier Inn is set to launch a new hotel brand - Hub by Premier - with an abundance of technology being pushed as one of its main selling points.
Hotels from the UK-based brand are set to be in the city centres and, the company claims, will be priced 25% cheaper than Premier Inn rates.
Guests will be able to check-in online via the hub app in their mobile, control light and room temperature via the app, and also browse and order food.
They will also be able to select various TV/radio channels they want to be played even before they enter the room and stream videos from their mobile/tablet devices to the 40" television in room.
The app also displays local shopping and eating places.
The rooms, however, will measure just 11.4 square meters in size, with various amenities such as en-suite bathroom, wardrobe, desk and bed included. Of course, each hotel will have free wifi.
Premier Inn has been running a trial with five of the small rooms in London for over a year, but the first official Hub property will open in the capital's St Martin's Lane in summer 2014, with a further four hotels opening over the next three years.
The company says it will around 40 Hub hotels (representing roughly 6,000 rooms) either opened or in the pipeline by 2018.
