A concept video from the product development team at US planemaker Boeing demonstrates how lighting projections on the walls and bulkheads of airplanes, along with projection TVs, could be used to display information, such on gate changes at a destination airport, or to display calming scenes, like the night sky on the ceiling.
The concept could also be applied to the backseats on planes, enabling bigger "screens" for displaying entertainment -- at least in theory.
The US planemaker is trying to maintain its lead in the annual value of its production over rival Airbus.
It recently announced that it had developed the lightest metal ever.
But Airbus has been floating its own ideas for innovation. In recent years it proposed transparent ceilings to let passengers see the sky above their seats.
