In what it calls an industry first, American Express Membership Rewards enrollees can now use their points to buy books, Kindles, sporting goods and a lot of other products sold on Amazon.com.
American Express cardmembers enrolled in Membership Rewards can sign in with an existing or new Amazon account, link the rewards program to their Amazon account, and then use their American Express rewards points toward purchasing all or part of their Amazon selections.
Certain goods, such as Kindle downloads, gift certificates and "digital goods" can't be purchased with American Express points. Here's an Amazon FAQ about the program.
The American Express Pay With Points program, launched in 2005, began as a travel-related offering, but now includes the option to use the points to pay for entertainment, dining, retail purchases and charitable contributions, too.
