- New venture No Exclusions has partnered with Mondial Assistance to offer cover for airline passengers who miss their flight. EasyJet customers are the first to benefit from the cover giving them the option to get a new ticket while at the airport or a full refund. The insurance costs £7.50 based on a single flight.
- Triptrotting hopes to bring locals together with tourists as it organises a series of events across eight European cities. TRIPup Week in Europe includes BBQs, tours, street parties and other networking events and follows similar meet-ups in other cities across the world. Triptrotting received funding from Google Ventures earlier this year and said the investment would go toward product development.
- Vayant Travel Technologies has developed a pricing cache for airlines, tour operators and online travel agents. The service enables companies to cache priced flights which have been checked for availability. The cache is customisable via Vayant's web admin portal and can be updated every hour.
- Condor passengers will be able to access in-flight entertainment services via their wifi-enabled devices after a deal to install Lufthansa Systems' BoardConnect. The wireless solution is to be trialled on a Boeing 767-300 following a green-light from the European Aviation Safety Agency.
