To coincide with the mammoth Tnooz Predictions 2010 article, Tnooz asked people around the industry to gaze into their own crystal balls to forecast some of the key developments for the next 12 months.
Kicking off this five-part series are Jim Davidson (chief executive of Farelogix) and Bob Diener (co-founder of GetARoom and ex-president of Hotels.com).
Jim Davidson:
- The first major travel agency-based point of sale desktop truly capable of selling and servicing airline merchandising, both bundling and ancillary, will see significant level of agency adoption by Q3 2010.
- Mobile applications beyond flight search and notifications will make an entry in 2010.
- The first entry into merchandising will be initially focused on “customer recovery” due to operational service interruption.
Bob Diener:
- Although business travel will be weak, leisure travel will remain strong as consumers take advantage of promotions.
- Bookings on mobile devices will grow significantly.
