STARTUPS: News that a tech startup which simply sends the word "Yo" to friends had raised $1 million recently left many either scratching their heads or despairing at the types of services which are getting backed financially. There is a valid and growing argument which says the bean counters should take a look at themselves and think about everyone else, just for a moment. Read more at The Wall Street Journal.
Silicon Valley is a peculiar beast. The Yo messaging service got funded and food-delivery services are valued at $400 million.
There are also startups that deliver rolls of quarters to your home (just $27 for $20 in change!).
It isn't hard, looking at a lineup like this, to conclude that Silicon Valley has jumped the shark.
The entire Bay Area appears to have given up on solving anything but its own problems: those afflicting the same 20-somethings who are building these startups.
