The view from Room 77 just turned brighter with the securing of a $10.5 million series B funding round led by General Catalyst Partners.
In addition to General Catalyst Partners, which funded ITA Software and Kayak, existing institutional and angel investors also joined the round. They include Par Capital Management (ITA Software, Farecast and Orbitz), Sutter Hill Ventures (Farecast), Expedia founder Rich Barton, and Expedia alum and former IAC Travel president Erik Blachford.
The latest funding brings the capitalization to $13.5 million for Room 77, which specializes in providing data, including interior images and views, for individual hotel rooms.
The company says the funding infusion will enable it to "increase its proprietary index of hotels rooms globally and expand its core search platform to offer more ways to help travelers shop and book hotels online and via mobile devices."
Room 77 currently offers its services for three-star hotels and above in 24 cities in the U.S., Canada (Vancouver) and UK (London).
