Just because you can doesn't mean you should when it comes to what to include in a mobile application and some of the best advice out there is to keep it simple.
Step forward Ritz-Carlton Hotel Company with this snazzy app which has all the essentials from property descriptions, images and reservations to location-based information.
Then, in line with Ritz-Carlton's luxury identity the app has some surprises such as integration with the brand's Four Square World Concierge service and exclusive tips via Quick Response codes from the company president himself.
As soon as guests check in to a property they can scan the code and access the tips.
QR codes are also being used to provide tours on 20 of the chain's properties such as a scavenger hunt for children at the Berlin property.
Is it really necessary? Well, probably if you're Ritz-Carlton and trying to 'anticipate the unexpressed needs of guests' who are likely to be a demanding, tech-savvy lot.
On top of the essentials and bells and whistles, the app does have some other cool stuff such as the integration of the chain's Let Us Stay With You platform to act as a souvenir of a stay and some useful features such as a message mailbox for reminders.
