More developments in augmented reality this week through a partnership between Metaio and Kooaba, allowing objects to be painted in information at a destination.
Early days but the idea is marry existing Mataio AR technology - available through Android and soon the iPhone - with Kooaba's database of objects.
The system be able to track points-of-interest in a destination (such as shops, restaurants, hotels, attractions) using the Mataio system and then Kooaba covers the object on-screen with information for the user.
Officials say:

"Multimedia experiences can be triggered by images, signs, posters, magazines or newspaper pages, packaging or any other object nearby. Ratings, tips, affiliates and other e-commerce functions can be displayed on real products.
"Advertisers may "augment" their print ads with games or added displays. Museums may offer a guided tour of their art treasures through augmented reality. The possibilities are endless."
