There couldn't be more of a contrast between flooding in Vermont from Hurricane Irene and the parched earth that fed Texas wildfires, but both natural catastrophes left people needing temporary homes and HomeAway has provided an assist.
The vacation rental company established pages where Vermont and Texas vacation rental owners could list their properties for free or discounted rates to help victims in each state.
As of a few days ago, the Texas page included some 140 vacation rentals and eight bed and breakfast inns in central Texas, and in Vermont about 51 vacation rentals were featured on the Vermont page, says a HomeAway spokesman.
HomeAway also established Texas Wildfires group and Vermont Vacation Rental Owners community pages for owners and evacuees to share news and advice.
