GuestLogix says a Canadian airline will be its launch customer in the Fall for a mobile concierge platform which integrates with other travel apps.
The current GuestLogix Concierge [pdf] enables pre-flight and onboard purchases of entertainment services, ranging from movies to video games.
GuestLogix says its new OnTouch Mobile Concierge platform, which works on all mobile operating systems, facilitates airline concierge and custom services, two-way passenger and crew communication, and social networking, and can integrate with popular travel apps.
The GuestLogix OnTouch Mobile Concierge platform is geared to enable airlines to build greater traction for their apps because integration with other apps means consumers won't have to go elsewhere to access hotel, car rental and popular apps, GuestLogix says.
Brett Proud, an executive vice president at GuestLogix, says many airlines don't have a suitable platform to enable their mobile app strategy.
Integating airline and other apps under one banner "makes more sense because what the industry is doing today is quite a scramble," Proud says.
The OnTouch Mobile Concierge platform is currently being tested and is being shown to airlines in North America, with a Canadian airline as a launch partner, Proud says.
GuestLogix declined to name the launch customer.
A spokesperson for Air Canada says it is not involved with the project, and a WestJet spokesperson didn't provide an immediate answer.
