InterContinental Hotels Group claims it's the "first major hotel company" to roll out an Android app.
It's doing so because it is finding a lot of success in its mobile platforms -- both mobile websites and mobile apps -- and is taking in plenty of revenue from them.
Like its previously launched iPhone app, InterContinental's Priority Club Rewards app for the Android enables Priority Club members to search, price and book rooms, as well as cancel reservations, for all seven IHG brands.
Priority Club member also can use the Android app to redeem points for Priority Club Reward nights.
The iPhone app was launched in late April and already has produced $3 million in revenue, IHG says.
IHG also launched mobile-branded websites about a year ago and, together with the iPhone app, they generate $2.5 million in revenue per month, the company says.
