Landfolk,
a Denmark-based platform for holiday home rentals, has raised €3.8 million in
seed funding.
The
funding comes from Seed Capital and is the startup’s second round of capital
since it was launched in 2021 by a group of former Airbnb employees.
The
company says it now has more than 1,000 holiday homes on its platform across Denmark,
Germany and Norway, and with this funding it is intending to double that number
this year.
“It's really exciting to see Landfolk shake up an industry that has been stagnant for far too long,” says Ulla Brockenhuus-Schack, managing partner at Seed Capital.

“They
have managed to create a company in two years with impressive turnover by,
among other things, expanding the market with a segment that has never
previously rented out their holiday home and a team that manages to execute
like few others.”
Landfolk
requires that homeowners apply to be included in the platform, and the company
says it spends time “finding and handpicking the most exceptional places for
our community …” The website lists four criteria for selection: personal style,
access to nature, thoughtful hosts and high-quality materials inside the home.
Landfolk
co-founder and CEO Christian Schwarz Lausten and his six co-founders all
previously worked at Airbnb.
In
a post on LinkedIn announcing the funding Lausten says, “We believe we are
building the future of digital marketplaces and what a premium hospitality
experience looks like, and we can’t wait to show you what’s next.”
