Landmark deal for Vayant after Lufthansa, one of Europe's largest carriers, selected the tech company's caching system to boost distribution to tour operators and consolidators in Central Europe.
The agreement is probably the most significant business win for Vayant since it started its commercial operations in 2010.
The custom-made cache was built using Vayant's Pricing Cache tool, opening up the airline’s fares for dynamic packaging by tour operators.
The pricing cache works by using Vayant’s fares and pricing engine, with the cache currently covering 30 departure cities in the German-speaking market and 100 destinations, 70 of which are in Europe.
Vayant says it refreshes and pushes updated and cached data around six times per day for Lufthansa, claiming a booking guarantee of over 90%.
Lufthansa pushes its fare data to tour operators including L’TUR, Bucher Reisen, Hotelplan Suisse and TUI's Hotels4U.
Vayant’s Pricing Cache customers include Hotelplan, travel.at, HLX and Binoli.
The tool was first launched in September 2012, with a recently enhanced version supporting multiple passenger types and different fare classes in a single cache for each combination.
