At some point, Mark Okerstrom will no longer be the figure who stepped into the breach at Expedia Group when his old boss and mentor Dara Khosrowshahi left to run Uber.
Such a conversation starter is coming probably coming to an end now, with the CEO and president of one of the globe's biggest travel brands having notched up nearly 15 months In The Big Chair.
This is not to say that Okerstrom has decided on a business-as-usual strategy, simply following in his predecessor's footsteps - far from it, in fact.

He is very much his own man, and he has now identified a number of important areas where the group can improve.
In particular, growing the company internationally ("locally relevant" is a phrase that often comes up when he speaks) and shifting away from focusing solely on metrics of the past, such as conversion rates et al.
Still, despite having a attitude that illustrates that he is not resting on his laurels, Okerstrom still commands a group that is extremely powerful in the industry.
He spoke on-stage during The Phocuswright Conference 2018 in Los Angeles about such concerns and trends having an impact on the company.
