Never leave your customers with a sad face, even if you have to show a Error 404 page in your website.
Some travel brands have taken this seriously and put a lot of effort to create some creative/funny Error 404 pages.
Eighteen months ago, we featured a set of Error 404 pages from travel brands - good ones, cute ones and the ugly ones.
This year, we thought it was time to revisit some of the good/cute Error 404 pages from travel brands. We opened more than 100 travel websites by mentioning a non-existing page, for example: www.expedia.com/gghgghggh
While doing this, more than 50% of the sites didn't have a neat-looking 404 page. Some just displayed "Page not found", "What you are looking doesn't exist", "Check your URL again". And, some sites redirected back to the home page.
A catchy 404 page might help in brand recall, and it also gives an opportunity to showcase the lighter side of the company.
Let the visual feast begin...

Non-travel website: University of Illinois
This site trolls the user by its running feed of messages. Even after waiting for 20 minutes, the messages continued like a story. This site has really put in a LOT of work.
NB: Please don't check how Tnooz displays its Error 404 page - we need to up our creativity :)
